Why is Attendance So Important?

• Learning builds every day – When children miss school, they miss out on key lessons and can quickly fall behind. Regular attendance helps them keep up with the curriculum and feel confident in their learning.

• Routines matter – Coming to school every day helps children build good habits, a sense of responsibility, and a strong routine — all important life skills.

• Friendships and confidence – Being in school helps children feel part of the class community. They build friendships, social skills, and self-esteem by being involved in daily activities.

• School is more than lessons – Assemblies, clubs, themed days, and trips are all part of a child’s learning experience. Regular attendance means they don’t miss out on the fun!

What is Good Attendance?

We aim for every child to attend school 96% of the time. This means no more than 7 days off across the whole school year.

Even small amounts of time missed can add up. For example:

• 90% attendance = 1 day off every 2 weeks = 4 whole weeks missed over a school year!

How You Can Help

• Try to book appointments outside school hours where possible

• Take holidays during school breaks, not term time

• Let us know if your child is struggling — we’re here to support you!
